Brand 54

I am absolutely thrilled to announce my inclusion in Brand 54, the 54th Annual National Juried Exhibition of Works on Paper. This prestigious exhibition will be on view from June 6th to August 28th, 2026, and I am so honored to have my work selected.

You are cordially invited to celebrate with us at the Opening Reception on Saturday, June 6th, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This is always a vibrant and engaging event, filled with both art enthusiasts and fellow artists. We’ll also be recognizing achievements at the Awards Ceremony at 8:00 p.m.

The Brand 54 exhibition promises a captivating exploration of the paper medium, showcasing 100 exceptional artworks from across the nation. Juror Tracy Bartley, with her keen eye and extensive experience in contemporary fine art, has made truly exciting selections, offering a diverse and inspiring look at the versatility and depth of works on paper. The Brand Library & Art Center has been a cornerstone for the arts in Southern California since 1956. 

Tracy Bartley is Project Manager and Senior Researcher for the David Hockney Catalogue Raisonné Project. A co-founder of AFELL (Artist Foundations & Estate Leaders List) with over twenty-five years of experience in artist’s studio management and legacy planning, she led the R.B. Kitaj Estate after managing his Los Angeles studio for a decade. She has worked with Charles Garabedian, Gwynn Murrill, Derek Boshier, and Michael Todd, among others. Additionally, she is an accredited fine art appraiser specializing in Post-War, Modern, Contemporary, and Emerging Art, and 20th Century Design.

Santa Monica Doorway

In this monochromatic photograph, I explore the silent dialogue between light and architecture, focusing on the intersection of a doorway and the rhythmic geometry of shadow. By isolating the scene in black and white, I sought to strip away the distraction of color to reveal the raw tactile quality of the textured wall—each crevice and grain rendered with newfound intensity. The shadow cast by the overhead pergola serves as a temporal anchor; it is a fleeting, skeletal projection that imposes a rigid, musical structure upon the organic decay of the masonry.

The doorway becomes more than a passage; it represents the threshold between the tangible permanence of the stucco and the ephemeral, shifting nature of light. Ultimately, this image is an invitation to slow down and observe how the simplest architectural elements can, when touched by the sun, compose a narrative of rhythm, contrast, and quiet transition.
