Carving Canvas 2026

Mark your calendars! I’m thrilled to announce being juried into “Carving Canvas,” an exhibition at the Malibu City Gallery. This vibrant collection of artwork promises to be a visual feast, echoing themes of happiness and festivity, and I’m honored to be a part of it.

The opening reception will be held on Friday, July 10 at 6:00 PM, offering a perfect opportunity to mingle, enjoy some inspiring art, and celebrate this joyous occasion. The exhibition itself will be on display from July 13 through August 21, 2026, so be sure to visit Malibu to celebrate it’s deep roots in surf and skate cultures in “Carving Canvas.”

Sunset Surfer – Last Ride of the Day

In this photograph, the transition between day and night serves as a quiet metaphor for the finality of a session shared with the ocean. Captured in the fading amethyst glow of the Malibu twilight, the subject stands poised at the edge of the Pacific, a silhouette defined by the faded light of the sun. She is not rushing toward the horizon, but rather honoring it; there is a profound stillness in her posture that suggests both the exhaustion of a long day’s ride and the reverence one feels before the last wave.

By framing her against the dying light, I wanted to explore the intimate dialogue between the surfer and the sea—a moment where the boundaries of the shore dissolve, and the rhythmic pulse of the tide becomes the only clock that matters. This is a portrait of surrender, capturing the precise flicker of time when the adrenaline of the sport gives way to the serenity of the coming dark.
