I am honored that my series “Slice of Light” won third place in the 2024 IPAs. Sunlight can bathe a scene in a gentle ambient light, add a cool morning cast or a warm afternoon glow, or create biting contrast with intense highlights and concealing black shadows. This series of photographs explores the later, where the sun carves the shadows like a laser, creating geometric shape and drawng your eye to the subject with pinpoint precision. The mood of these images doesn’t come from the barren cityscapes, but from the people who weave through the shadows and bring scale and life to the scene with their individuality.
