Layers – Exploring Depth
I am deeply honored to announce my inclusion in “Layers – Exploring Depth in Contemporary Art,” by the juror, Kimie Joe. This esteemed show at TAG Gallery in Los Angeles, CA, will also be presented concurrently as a virtual exhibition on the SFVACC website, offering a dual experience for art enthusiasts. “Layers” delves into the multifaceted ways artists engage with the concept of layering, whether it manifests as literal material accumulation – through built surfaces, collage, glazing, stitching, assemblage, digital compositing, or the deliberate accumulation of marks – or as a more conceptual exploration of themes like memory, history, identity, time, environment, or narrative that unfold progressively. The exhibition’s invitation for artists to consider how depth, transparency, obscuring, repetition, and material buildup contribute to meaning and structure is a powerful prompt, and I am excited to see how my own work is interpreted within this compelling thematic framework.
JUROR: Kimie Joe
Kimie is the founder and owner of the Gallery of Hermosa, a coastal contemporary gallery in Southern California that exhibits emerging and established artists across a range of media. Through curating exhibitions, reviewing artist submissions, and working directly with collectors, she regularly evaluates artwork based on originality, craftsmanship, conceptual depth, and presentation.
Her experience as both a practicing artist and gallery curator gives her a well-rounded perspective when reviewing work. Kimie brings a particular appreciation for artworks that use layering, whether physical, visual, or conceptual, to create meaning, complexity, and emotional resonance.

Exhibition Dates: June 17-July 10, 2026

Tower 1550
Tower 1550 is part of a series of photos that delves into the palimpsestic nature of L.A., a city where layers of aspiration, and reality constantly overlap and redefine themselves. The stacked exposures with overlapping and fragmented architectural forms mimic the city’s frenetic energy and dreamlike allure.
